Photography Paper
The Art of Photography
By: Sydney Garner
Photography is the art of creating unique pictures and showing a different type of emotion in each. In today’s time, photography has also become a powerful means of communication and a mode of visual expression that touches human life in many ways. It requires imagination and self expression to photograph a meaningful image. A photograph may contain thousands of words only describing the scenery and content. Photography was discovered by a Frenchman named Joseph Nicephore Neipce; he introduced photography to the world in the year 1827. The word photography comes from two ancient Greek words “phos” (photo), meaning light, and “graphos” (graphy), meaning drawing. There are hundreds of different types of photography styles in the world, some more popular photography styles are: nature photography, sports photography, paranormal photography, night photography, and travel photography. There is also, aerial photography, black and white photography, underwater photography, astrophotography, and ultraviolet photography. Most of these styles listed are quite distinct from one another, such as in the colors and subjects of the photos. The history of photography reaches millennia, ranging from the Greek philosophers to the photographic explorers of today. Throughout the history, the problem of being able to store an image, or make it permanent, has been the most restrictive factor of improvement in photography.
